Last year around this time I was one of the keynote speakers at the yearly Fearless Masters conference for wedding photographers.Public speaking in front of 300 other (wedding)photographers was definitely way out of my comfort zone, but it was undeniably an unforgettable experience as I’m always an advocate of pushing yourself beyond your own limits.As I was free to choose the subject of my talking, I deviated a bit from the standard photography path and dug a bit deeper: the improbability of life in the vastness of our universe, on a speck of dust suspended in a sunbeam: our pale blue dot. 🌍
The wonderful gift of life.
About finding your Ikigai, and how it changed my career path from pharmacist to professional photographer.

🎢 A few weeks ago I received this trophy in my mailbox by @mastersofweddingphotography , as I’ve made it to the top 10 wedding photographers in the Benelux for the 4th time! Woohoo! 🏆This is a good opportunity to express a big thanks to all my wedding couples from the past years, and especially the ones that got married in 2021 and 2022: Thank you for your enormous patience as things got a bit overwhelming these last 2 years.Through instagram we usually only want to highlight our wins in life.
But life wouldn’t be life without the occasional hurdles.
The post-covid syndrome had really put all postponed events and weddings on one big pile, resulting in a 2 year long game of dodgeball with burnout. It’s fair to say It’s been quite the rollercoaster.Being passionate about something can result in a desire for perfectionism. Especially as a people pleaser this all takes place at your own expense.As of this year I’ll be taking better care of myself by taking on a bit fewer jobs in order to provide a better service to my clients, and to enjoy more of those happy moments.Don’t get me wrong: I’m still loving this job to bits.

In loving memory of my great old granddad, to whom we unexpectedly bid farewell 3 weeks ago.Dear grandpa, I was going to make you some new portraits to comemorate your recent 100th birthday, but just before I could make it , you were already gone. So I’m reposting these older photos that I took of you when I was practicing my photography skills on you, 6 and 11 years ago.You lived your life though. At 100 years, and 69 years of marriage. Still living together in a regular apartment with your much younger wife, my granny, who is still fresh as a daisy at 90 years old 😏. A retirement home was your biggest nightmare, so you played your best game.Thanks for all your creations, infused by your ingenious engineer-mind: a working carroussel made of an old washing machine engine, a hand made morse code machine/telegraph , just to name of few.We’ll never forget your infamous summer paella family gatherings, and your professional raspberry plantation. Every paella dish and raspberry I’ll ever eat, and every Martini I’ll ever drink (“to kill of the germs”) will make me think of you!Cheers Bompa, prosper well in your new garden up there.See you on the other side ✌🏻Rest in peace

Last week I had a blast capturing the second edition of @tomorrowlandwinter in the french Alps! (Which was supposed to be the 4th edition already if it wasn't for Covid!)
This is where photography all started for me: capturing the joy and vibrance of people celebrating life.Seeing and capturing all these happy faces again was just marvellous.
Meeting up with long time no seen colleagues, artists and friends sure made a good impact and ignited some good old nostalgia about a time that almost seemed unreal!Happy to see life finally take on its normal form again!.

I’m a bit late to the party, but according to @fearlessphotographerscom I may yet again count myself as one of the top 25 wedding photographers in the world!
I ended up at #19 worldwide and #1 in Belgium. 🥳🎉The last few years have been quite intense.
I’ve been pushing myself so hard to improve my skills to deliver my clients the very best I can, so much that I sometimes lose track of myself in time.
Almost 10 years ago I picked up a camera and called photography my newest hobby.
Back then I would never have guessed it would become my profession and that I could travel the world because of it.I’m very grateful for all of you fantastic couples and awesome clients for your trust and patience to capture your dreams, memories, and tears. Thanks for making this happen. Vibin’ in the rays. ✨I wish I could say my buddy Alex was having the epiphany of his life in this golden ray of light.
But truth is we were just buying beers in a small mexican tienda, and when going to the cash register to pay I noticed this ray of sunlight beeming in. So we started doing this 30 second shoot in the shop . The lady even started keeping passengers from passing through our beam 😜Love these unplanned little moments/shoots with golden light.Used as one of my photos to accompany my interview in the latest Shoot photography magazine. WOOOPTIDOEWW ! 🥳🥳🥳 This weekend I got the great news that I made it to the 2nd place at the @mastersofweddingphotography Benelux, and 1st place in Belgium 🤩
 I was lucky enough to gather 15 awards in total this year, (with photos that were mostly taken in 2019, which seems ages ago right now!)10 of them are depicted here. Which one is your favourite?
 First of all a big thank you to all my lovely, sweet, and daring couples for trusting me to capture all the memories of their special day. Happy couples are obviously always my top priority in wedding photography, but getting this kind of acknowledgement definitely taps me on the back to keep going after such an awful year.
